The CATIE Center at the College of St. Catherine is one of five regional centers funded by the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) to significantly increase the number of qualified interpreters available to interpret in vocational rehabilitation and other professional settings.
The CATIE Center serves the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin. We are a member of the National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers.

I am proud member of FreeCycle that I do give away some stuff to anyone who wants them rather than seeing them go to landfill.  When my friends say that they are going throw them away, I say give it to me and I will find home for them.  Some of them look at me like I am crazy.  LOL  I want to do something good for our environment...at least, it is something I can do.  8-)

Your e-mails: Life without TV

I stopped watching TV a few years ago and didn't miss it much.  Some of my friends think I am wacko or miss out on something in my life...*shrug*  I have more time for other things that I really enjoy - hiking, biking, rollerblading, walking, reading, traveling and much more.  If I want to watch TV, then I would have less time to do them.  Since I stopped watching TV, I lost some weight and improved with my eating habits.  If i really want to watch TV, I just go to sports bar to watch TV with my friends during football game or any other stuff...or rent movies.  Only couple of TV shows I would love to watch are Jeopardy and The Amazing Race.  Other TV shows are nice to watch are NCIS, CSI, CSI: New York and Bionic Woman.  Anyhow, in summary, I can live without TV.  8-)

Donate your old shoes

I am so thrilled to find out about this program via National Geographic Kids magazine (my nephew is a subscriber and I get to read it! I love that stuff!!!).  I have many old shoes that I didn't want to throw out, but am more than happy to donate them knowing that they will be re-used for better purpose - recycles old and unusable shoe material into basketball and tennis courts, soccer fields and running tracks.  Isn't that awesome!!!!???  :)

Where to donate your beautiful dress (bridesmaid, black-tie, etc)

Ellie, DJ and I were chatting another day...they mentioned about having some dresses in closet that they weren't sure what they can do with them such as bridesmaid dresses...I mentioned to them about some organizations do accept the gently-used dresses as prom dresses for girls who couldn't afford to purchase their own dream prom dress for their prom.  I looked up and found some info:

I noticed that most of them may not accept the dresses at this moment...wait until late winter or early spring to see if they will accept the dress donation.  It will do these girls a world of being able to attend the prom in beautiful dress and it is best gift you can give to these girls.  ;-)

Author: Letting kids drink early reduces binging

I agree with this article by having an open environment where children can drink and have some conversation with their trusted adults in presence.  I grew up like this similar environment, so when I entered into college and was awed at how many my peers drank so much alcoholic beverages in one sitting.  They said that they were thrilled to be able to drink without their parents watching over them.  It just saddened me to know that they thought it was so cool to drink whatever they want and/or get drunk.  When people asked me if I think it was fun to get drunk or ever blacked out, I told them what would they accomplish from getting drunk?  Was it worth price to pay to get drunk at all?
